Kindred will manage the new inpatient rehabilitation facility that will focus care on adults recovering from stroke, neurological disease, brain or spinal chord injuries and other long-term illnesses. It will be named Community Rehabilitation Hospital South.
This is the third joint venture between Kindred Healthcare and Community Health Network. They also jointly operate Community Rehabilitation Hospital in Northeast Indianapolis and Kokomo, Ind.-based Community Howard Specialty Hospital.
After the conversion, Kindred Healthcare will still operate two long-term acute care hospitals in Indianapolis.

Breier, president and CEO of Kindred Healthcare. “The conversion of one of our three LTAC hospitals into an inpatient rehabilitation hospital significantly expands our rehabilitation service offerings and positions Kindred to best serve rehabilitation patients in the local community.”
