Iowa Methodist Medical Center unveils multi-million-dollar ED

The William C. Knapp Emergency Department and Trauma Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines is set to open June 7.

The ED was partially funded through $13.6 million in donations and created by local contractors, electricians and architects, according to KCCI.

Its design includes a specialized sexual assault room, built at an angle facing away from the main hallway to allow for more privacy. There is also a behavioral health room that allows for continuous monitoring of psychiatric patients.

Additionally, the William C. Knapp Emergency Department and Trauma Center features 26 private rooms and 10 rapid assessment rooms.
