Hospital employee brings rifles to work, prompting lockdown

Roosevelt, Utah-based Uintah Basin Medical Center was put on temporary lockdown Sept. 26 when officials discovered an employee smuggling two rifles into the hospital, according to KSL.com.

Ambulatory air service employees reportedly witnessed an unknown individual carrying two rifles through the door on the hospital roof around 10 a.m. on Sept. 26, according to Roosevelt Police Chief Rick Harrison.

Chief Harrison said the individual attempted to conceal the weapons in a laundry cart.

The hospital was placed on lockdown while hospital staff and police viewed security footage of the unidentified man. He was quickly discovered to be an employee of the hospital, according to the article.

Chief Harrison said in a statement that the individual in question later confirmed he brought the guns to show to another employee, according to the article.

No charges or arrests have reportedly been issued.
