HealthSouth breaks ground on inpatient rehab hospital in Alabama: 4 things to know

Construction began Monday on Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth’s 34-bed freestanding inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Pelham, Ala., according to the Shelby County Reporter.

Here are four things to know about the project.

1. The facility will offer 44,230 square feet of space.

2. Among the hospital’s features are more than 30 private patient rooms, a therapy gym, courtyard and dining room and dayroom areas, according to the report.

3. The estimated total cost of the project is $17 million.

4. The hospital is expected to create 120 to 150 jobs and is expected to begin seeing patients in March 2018, according to the report.
