Shriners will lease space within Dayton Children’s and operate as a completely independent hospital, though it will purchase certain services such as lab work from Dayton Children’s. Shriners will renovate the hospital’s former pediatric intensive care unit along with one operating room.

“Dayton Children’s has worked closely with Shriners-Cincinnati on several projects recently and greatly value their mission,” Deborah Feldman, president and CEO of Dayton Children’s, told the journal “I am pleased to welcome them to Dayton Children’s main campus and support them in continuing to provide dedicated services in burn and reconstructive surgical care.”

Renovations will begin in June and are expected to be complete in summer 2020.
