Despite the move, Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial will retain psychiatric services and a modified emergency department at its facility. However, the ED will no longer be designated a trauma-level center.
Emergency medical services and ambulances will transport trauma patients to Christus Spohn Shoreline, according to the report.
“This move will bring together Christus Spohn’s trauma team, key medical specialties and latest technology under one roof, enhancing the trauma program and elevating patient care,” Osbert Blow, MD, CMO and trauma medical director of Christus Spohn, said in a release obtained by Corpus Christi Caller-Times.
Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial is set to be demolished in March 2020, the report states.
