St. Joseph Mercy Brighton Opens First Short Stay Center in Michigan

St. Joseph Mercy Brighton (Mich.) expanded its facility to include a Short Stay Center that will allow patients the opportunity to stay overnight at the hospital without requiring inpatient admission.

Located on the second floor of the Brighton, Mich., facility, the Short Stay Center offers 18 private rooms and six private bays. The center will serve patients entering through the emergency department who may require additional treatment or observation, but who may not warrant full admission. The center will be staffed 24/7 and will begin accepting patients April 17.

"Over the last several years, we have been developing a long-range plan to ensure our ability to continue serving Livingston County with expert care and expanded services close to home," said Rob Casalou, regional president and CEO of Saint Joseph Mercy Health System. "This Center is an innovative approach geared toward outpatients and provides a quiet, more comfortable environment for those requiring a longer stay than the typical emergency room visit or recovery from outpatient surgery."
