Calvert Memorial Hospital breaks ground on $51M expansion, unveils new name

Prince Fredrick, Md.-based Calvert Memorial Hospital broke ground Sept. 14 on its $51 million expansion project and changed its name to Calvert Health Medical Center, according to The Calvert Recorder.

“Our big goal for the change of the name is to really help consumers and people in the community understand the connectivity between the medical center, the physicians’ practices, the urgent care centers,” Kasia Sweeney, Calvert Health’s associate vice president of corporate communication and client service, told The Calvert Recorder.

The $51 million project will add a 43,575-square-foot, three-story expansion to increase the number of private rooms. In addition, Calvert Heath will also renovate existing space to include an observation room, an outpatient unit and medical support area.
