Baptist Health, Emerus to build emergency hospital in Texas

San Antonio-based Baptist Health System and Woodlands, Texas-based Emerus will build an emergency hospital in Alamo City, Texas, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.

The new 40,000-square-foot hospital, which is currently under construction, will contain eight emergency-care exam rooms, on-site imaging and lab facilities and almost 10,000 square feet of ground-floor space. The first and second floors of the building will house medical and professional offices.

Baptist Health and Emerus first partnered in 2011 to build four emergency hospitals in the San Antonio area. The Alamo City facility, with a completion date of December 2016, marks the 7th emergency hospital constructed through the partnership.

"I think you will see more of this model. There are at least another two sites in San Antonio that we are looking at," Toby Hamilton, MD, CEO of Emerus, told the San Antonio Business Journal.
