Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is undergoing a $78 million expansion and renovation project.

Here are five things to know about the project.

  1. The project entails 111,993 square feet of construction and 10,834 square feet of renovation.

  2. Expansion efforts will add three additional floors to the hospital's center wing, along with a new three-story southeastern wing.

  3. The project will boost the hospital's bed count from 83 to 145.

  4. The southeastern wing, which opened some of its rooms up to patients Wednesday, will serve as a women's wing once the remaining patient rooms open later this year, according to the report.

  5. In addition to new patient rooms, the expansion efforts will also create new emergency rooms and operating rooms, which are set to open in November.
