The following hospitals announced or completed plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Highland Hospital to add 60 rooms: 4 things to know
As part of a modernization project of its southeast wing, Rochester, N.Y.-based Highland Hospital plans to add four floors and 60 private rooms.

2. Pittsburgh city council greenlights UPMC’s $400M expansion
Although area residents, union members and community activists spoke out against the project, the Pittsburgh City Council approved Pittsburgh-based UPMC’s proposal for a $400 million expansion.

3. Shuttered California hospital to reopen as ‘healthcare city’
The new owners of the former Los Angeles-based Pacific Alliance Medical Center, which closed in November 2017, said during a news conference July 28 that they plan to reopen the facility by the end of next summer as a “healthcare city.”
