Three things to know:

1. Meditech Expanse is designed with an open workspace to help hospitals and health systems expand their reach and improve patient care connections across the continuum.

2. Woman’s Hospital, a nonprofit women’s specialty hospital, also implemented Expanse POC, a fully integrated component of the EHR that allows clinicians to access patients’ medical records via a small, handheld device.

3. With Expanse POC, clinicians can view patients’ charts, document and provide medication administration.

“The concept of using handheld devices is so familiar in day-to-day life, and our nurses have been seeking the same innovation in healthcare,” said Tanya Johnson, BSN, RN, Woman’s Hospital nursing informatics manager, according to a news release. “Using the Meditech POC solution within our mother/baby units truly supports family bonding by allowing the nurse more time to engage with the patient, without limitations related to equipment or connectivity.”
