By implementing the new EHR, GRMC will be able to share patients’ health records with other UnityPoint Health locations as well as pull relevant information from other clinics. UnityPoint Health is partnered with more than 280 physician clinics and 32 hospitals throughout Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.
GRMC team members have been training for the Epic go live since early August, with more than 300 classes taught by 25 system trainers.
To help lead the EHR transition, GRMC will institute a command center with trained professionals from UnityPoint Health during the first two weeks of the go live. The 49-bed, nonprofit hospital has also enlisted the support of various Epic superusers, or EHR-trained staff, to help assist physicians, clinicians and staff at the hospital and clinics.
