New York hospital to install Epic EHR: 3 details

Walton, N.Y.-based UHS Delaware Valley Hospital plans to install Epic EHR on Sept. 12, according to a CNY News report.

Three notes:

1. The hospital will close its pharmacy and primary care center for a few hours between Sept. 11-12 for the installation.

2. After the implementation, all UHS Delaware Valley Hospital physicians and facilities will be able to exchange patient information. The hospital will also be interoperable with other organizations using Epic EHR.

3. The health system will make the MyChart patient portal and app available for patients to request prescription refills, view test results and schedule appointments. They will also be able to communicate with clinicians and pay bills virtually.
