SHEIC is the national collaborative of HIEs and comprises more than 80 members.

Four survey insights:

1. The country’s HIEs serve 92 percent of Americans, delivering more than 1 billion clinical alerts each year.

2. HIEs connected to the Patient Centered Data Home, a national network SHEIC established in 2016 to oversee the exchange of patient data between HIEs, serves more than 200 million patients.

3. Through PCDH, a connected provider is notified when a patient receives care from another PCDH organization.

4. Over the last year, the PCDH model participation rates have increased by 230 percent and the number of alerts delivered rose by more than 300 percent.
