Allscripts expects to add more patents to its company patent program by the end of 2020; since launching the program in 2013, the health IT company has had 150 patents issued plus another 150-plus currently pending.

The five patents recently awarded relate to improving clinical care delivery and overall patient experience. One of the patents is for an app that connects EHRs to other wellness apps to support patient engagement through goal tracking, while another new patent supports application programming interface calls from EHRs to begin searches over genetic testing data stores.
