The project aims to better accommodate the 16,500 ED visits the hospital sees on average per year, according to UPMC Susquehanna officials.
The former nine-room ED now includes eight treatment rooms, three rapid-treatment rooms, rooms designed for triage, decontamination and behavioral health, an OB-GYN room and a trauma resuscitation room.
The completed project also includes a renovated imaging wing and the addition of a specialty clinic in the original ED.
