The Metro Nashville Police Department saw an increase in requests for transporting mentally ill individuals in need of evaluation, while local EDs experienced an increase in patients needing mental health services, according to the Mental Health Cooperative.
The project, called the Crisis Care Center, is the result of a $3.5 million collaboration between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee Department of Mental Health and the Mental Health Cooperative.
The new center will provide an adult crisis walk-in center, a child and adolescent crisis walk-in center and a 23-hour observation and treatment unit. It will be constructed in Nashville’s Metro Center and is expected to be complete next year.
