Chicagoland hospital completes $600k ED expansion

Elmhurst (Ill.) Hospital completed a $600,000 emergency department expansion in response to increased volume, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

The ED, originally designed to handle an annual volume of 55,000, treated 65,405 patients in 2016, compared to 51,190 patient visits in 2012, the ED’s first full year of operation.

The expansion increased the ED from 31 to 39 rooms, equipping it to handle 12,000 to 15,000 more visits per year.
