Here are four executives the tech giant lost this year:

  • TJ Parker and Elliot Cohen, co-founders of PillPack, left Amazon four years after the tech giant acquired the digital pharmacy as part of its initial foray into healthcare.
  • Kristen Helton, PhD, general manager and director of Amazon Care, said she is taking time away from the tech giant’s primary healthcare initiative for an extended break. Dr. Helton’s break began earlier this summer as she looked to “spend the summer with her family.” Amazon later decided to close the division at the end of the year.
  • Phoebe Yang, general manager of healthcare at Amazon Web Services, said she was stepping down from her role in an Aug. 5 LinkedIn post.

The company also announced plans to lay off 159 Amazon Care employees starting Dec. 1 and 236 employees from standalone company Care Medical, the clinicians that were in charge of treating the soon-to-be shuttered Amazon Care patients.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
