There is no guarantee that Amazon will come through with an offer. Peloton said it has spoken to its advisers but gave no assurance that it would be receptive to an approach. Nike is also looking into a deal with Peloton.

Its interest in Peloton may signal Amazon’s further ambition to push into healthcare. In 2020, Amazon unveiled its line of wearable fitness trackers called Halo, set to compete with Fitbit, which is owned by Google, and the Apple Watch. It previously set up partnerships with health systems to use the Alexa voice assistant to check up on patients and has tapped a new leader for its healthcare efforts.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
