AMA doles out $400K in grants to 15 medical institutions

The American Medical Association announced at its ChangeMedEd conference on Sept. 18 the recipients of the second annual Accelerating Change in Medical Education Innovation Grant Program.

The total $370,000 in funding is spread among 15 medical schools and institutions, awarded in either $30,000 or $10,000 grants. Each institution was selected for its innovative use of technology to address gaps in areas such as medical training, population health and student well-being.

Here are the 15 recipients of the innovation grants, beginning with the $30,000 awards:

  • Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine
  • Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (New York City)
  • H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute (Tampa, Fla.)
  • Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (Bethesda, Md.)
  • University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (Little Rock)
  • University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (Dallas)
  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School (Boston)
  • University of California, Irvine School of Medicine
  • Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Richmond)
  • Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University (Greenville, N.C.)
  • Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (New Brunswick, N.J.)

$10,000 grants:

  • The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (Baltimore)
  • University of Arizona College of Medicine — Tucson
  • Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (Richmond)
  • Rayos Contra Cancer (San Francisco)
