Nashville-based HCA Healthcare plans to rebrand its TriStar Health hospitals under the HCA Healthcare name, according to the Nashville Business Journal.
TriStar’s Nov. 14 proposal to Williamson Health’s consultant — Kauffman, Hall and Associates — stated that “HCA Healthcare plans to rebrand TriStar Health hospitals under the HCA Healthcare name in the near future,” the news outlet reported July 16, citing bid documents obtained through a public records request.
In an emailed statement to the Business Journal, TriStar said: “TriStar Health is our market identity in Middle Tennessee, while HCA Healthcare is our enterprise brand,” adding that the company “continually evaluate[s] how we present our brands” but has “no announcements regarding any brand changes.”
HCA placed its Middle Tennessee hospitals under the TriStar name in 1999 after separating from Columbia Hospital Corp. TriStar now operates 10 hospitals, 111 physician practices, 18 urgent care centers, eight surgery centers and seven freestanding emergency rooms across Tennessee and southern Kentucky, with new hospitals planned in Spring Hill and Clarksville, Tenn.
A March proposal document for Williamson Health said that if the TriStar-to-HCA Healthcare rebrand does not proceed, Williamson Health would instead be renamed HCA Healthcare — Williamson under HCA’s bid. The Williamson Health Board of Trustees voted unanimously on July 6 to sell the system to Ascension Saint Thomas instead, and TriStar declined to comment further on the rebrand plans mentioned in its losing bid.
