Facebook's marketing chief steps down

Antonio Lucio spent two years as the chief marketing officer at Facebook before announcing he would step down on Aug. 22 via a LinkedIn post.

"This has been a challenging year for all and an especially reflective year for me, following my mother's passing before the lockdown," he wrote. "Given the historical inflection point we are in regarding racial justice, I have decided to dedicate 100% of my time to diversity, inclusion and equality."

He did not reveal specifics about his next move but did say in the post that he wants the next chapter of his career to focus on helping advertising and marketing companies through transformational change.

"It is a time for reckoning for our nation and industry, and it is time for me to play a more active part in accelerating change," he wrote.

Mr. Lucio previously served as global chief marketing and communications officer of HP and spent seven years as a marketing and strategy leader at Visa.
