7 recent hospital rebrands

Seven hospitals and health systems have announced name changes or other rebranding efforts since Nov. 20:

  1. The VA San Diego Medical Center was renamed the Jennifer Moreno Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center to honor Ms. Moreno, a veteran who died during combat in Afghanistan.
  2. New Braunfels, Texas-based Resolute Health Hospital changed its name to Resolute Baptist Hospital to reflect its affiliation with San Antonio-based Baptist Health System.
  3. Oakland, Calif.-based Highland Hospital held a rededication ceremony as it officially rebranded as The Wilma Chan Highland Hospital to honor Wilma Chan, the former Alameda County supervisor who was struck and killed by a car in November 2021.
  4. Benson, Minn.-based Swift County Benson Health Services is rebranding as CentraCare-Benson to reflect its affiliation with St. Cloud, Minn.-based CentraCare.
  5. The new $920 million hospital on the Ann-Arbor-based University of Michigan campus will be named after philanthropists D. Dan and Betty Khan. The couple’s foundation donated $50 million to the hospital.
  6. Houston-based Texas Heart Medical Group is changing its name to the Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care as part of its move to a new location.
  7. New York City-based Richmond University Medical Center will rename its hospital campus to honor longtime former board chair Kathryn Rooney.
