Athenahealth incorporates digital wallet for patient payments

Athenahealth customers can now use PayGround, a digital wallet platform, to automate payment processing to improve patient collections.

The platform allows providers to collect all patient payments in one platform, while enabling  patients and their dependents to manage bills, across all providers, in a single place, according to a Feb. 24 press release.

Athenahealth providers can visit the Athenahealth Marketplace to link PayGround’s platform to automate their account receivables workflow, which allows payments to be administered at the time of service or online by receiving a text, email or paper statement.

PayGround also enables the decoupling of payments from the patient portal, giving non-patients such as caretakers or parents the ability to make payments without needing to access patient medical information.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
