The state has collected enough data to take a more targeted approach with its guidance for city reopening and in-person school, according to a report from the Boston Herald.
Some local leaders have advocated for change after outbreaks in jails and college campuses boosted positivity rates. The state spotlights areas at high risk for COVID-19 transmission.
The state’s executive office of Health and Human Services sent a letter on Oct. 20 to Middleton, which is in the “red zone” for high transmission risk, stating the agency will note whether an increase in COVID-19 cases is connected with a cluster, such as college campuses.
