Atrium Health deploys automation, data analytics for medication management

Atrium Health has tapped Omnicell, a Mountain View, Calif.-based healthcare software company, to provide the Charlotte, N.C.-based health system with an automated, data-driven medication management infrastructure.

Through the partnership, Atrium will use Omnicell's automation technology to upgrade dispensing storage in its central pharmacy. Additionally, Omnicell's data analytics-fed predictive intelligence platform will monitor the pharmacy's operations and suggest ways to improve efficiency, regulatory compliance and patient outcomes.

"Continued investment and focus on improving workflow and efficiency in the medication management system helps to reduce errors and maximize time our clinicians can spend focusing on patient care, leading to better clinical care and ultimately better patient outcomes," Don Mabe, chief pharmacy officer at Atrium Health, said in a statement.
