This MD was the highest-earning CEO in 2015

The highest paid CEO in the U.S. leads a relatively unknown cancer research firm in Los Angeles called NantKwest. Patrick Soon-Shiong, MD, earned $147.6 million in 2015, according to Fortune.

That’s significantly higher than Google CEO Sundar Pinchai’s 2015 compensation, which came in at $100.5 million. Dr. Soon-Shiong made 14 times the median amount that CEOs in 400 of the U.S.’s largest companies were paid in the same year: $10.5 million.

NantKwest’s market cap is approximately $703 million, according to regulatory findings, Fortune reported.

Dr. Soon-Shiong’s pay is comprised of a $1 base salary, a $368,301 bonus, $15 million worth of stock awards and $132.2 million in option awards. He is NantKwest’s majority shareholder and also co-owns the Los Angeles Lakers. Dr. Soon-Shiong’s net worth is about $9.8 billion.
