“With the number of hospital deals increasing by 18 percent in 2012 alone, the consolidation trend in healthcare is gaining momentum as the larger health systems further strengthen their capital and market positions,” according to the Objective Health news release. The tool is designed to help hospital leaders answer the following questions with empirical facts and rigorous analysis:

• Does my hospital have sufficient capital and resources to sustain performance at the level required to remain competitive in my local/regional market?
• How hard will my organization be hit by factors related to healthcare reform, persistent economic weakness and other key factors in the environment?
• How much margin improvement is necessary for our hospital to remain financially competitive in a rapidly consolidating provider environment?
