Removals of bowels, groin hernias and spleens, as well as kidney surgeries and hysterectomies, can be done with minimally invasive techniques, the report said. The equipment on the laparoscopic suites can assist those operating room procedures as monitors mounted on boom arms can follow the surgeries.
Patients are also less likely to obtain a hernia in their abdominal wall, which is standard for minimally invasive surgeries but “tricky to do without the appropriate equipment,” the report said.
