This partnership builds on the organizations’ existing partnership in urology and other surgical and medical services that began in 2011. Under the new collaboration, LPCH and John Muir Health will expand access to outpatient and inpatient neonatal and emergency care in the surrounding communities.

Many patients with complex cases will be treated in John Muir Health’s new 16-bed pediatric complex care unit in its Walnut Creek hospital, which also includes a 35-bed neonatal intensive care unit. Jane Willemsen, president and CAO of John Muir Health’s Walnut Creek medical center, said John Muir Health chose LPCH as a partner because of its clinical excellence and ability to recruit and retain sought-after specialists who are in short supply, according to the release.
