CHI Franciscan Health estimated the expansion will cost $15.6 million, a Dec. 22 letter of intent sent to the state Department of Health Certificate of Need Program said, according to the report.
Scott Thompson, a spokesman for St. Anthony Hospital said the 32 new beds will be added to the fifth floor of the hospital, which was left unfinished when the facility was built in 2009. St. Anthony Hospital has been operating at close to capacity daily. The expansion is intended to allow the hospital to serve the aging community’s increasing demand more efficiently.
The expansion still requires approval from the state Certificate of Need Program. CHI Franciscan Health expects the new beds to be complete in 2017.
