California Pacific Medical Center’s New Hospital Approved

California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, part of Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health, has received approval from the city to build a new 274-bed hospital and to rebuild St. Luke’s Hospital to be seismically safe, according to a San Francisco Examiner report.

Under the deal, CPMC will rebuild St. Luke’s with 120 beds, build a new 12-story facility, comply with a 10-year baseline of charity care and commit $80 million in community benefits, including job training, health clinics, transportation and affordable housing, according to the report.

In addition, CPMC will cap healthcare premium increases for government workers for 10 years, according to the report.
