The agreement is effective Jan. 1, 2022, and does not disrupt the parties’ current contract, according to a Dec. 27 announcement.

“We are proud of our strong relationship with Emory, which allows us to collaborate in new, innovative ways to improve health outcomes and provide access to quality, affordable care at Emory facilities throughout Georgia,” said Pam Stahl, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. “We value these collaborations with the care providers in our network, which are vitally important to creating choices for our consumers and fulfilling our mission of improving the lives of the people in the communities we serve.”

The move pairs with a Centers of Excellence transplant agreement effective for blood and marrow, heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas transplants.

Recently, Anthem and Emory Healthcare partnered on the first human-centered, 5G-based Innovation Hub laboratory.
