Researchers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention accessed the Nationwide Inpatient Sample of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project to study patients hospitalized for ischemic stroke. In addition to an increased hospitalization rate for ischemic stroke, they found that almost one in three stroke patients 15-34 years old and more than half of patients 35-44 years old were also diagnosed with hypertension.
