Yale New Haven buys vacant Macy's, plans redevelopment

Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health — with the help of MedCraft Healthcare Real Estate — purchased the vacant Macy's store at Meriden Mall in Connecticut and will repurpose it into a retail health facility.

The space is a total of 179,285 square feet and is in a visible spot accessible from interstate highways, according to an Oct. 4 news release from MedCraft.

The building can also be repurposed for Yale New Haven's clinical program and future expansion plans.

"We're thrilled that YNHHS chose MedCraft as a strategic advisor to identify, evaluate and negotiate the acquisition of a location of this complexity, scale and importance," said Steve Buckeridge, development principal with MedCraft.
