The system submitted an application that would allow it to claim $300 million in state funds for the facility, Mohawk Valley President and CEO Scott Perra told the Observer-Dispatch‘s editorial board. The proposed hospital would replace inpatient care at Utica-based Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare and Utica-based St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
However, the delayed paperwork pushed the hospital’s opening back to the first half of 2022 instead of 2021. The 430-bed plan is estimated to cost $573 million and officials are currently facing a $98 million funding gap, according to the report.
