The 105-bed facility is more than double the square footage of Northside Hospital’s current space. The replacement hospital’s 50-acre campus also houses a medical office, which opened in January.

Some hospital services, such as the radiation oncology department and multiple other physician practices, have already begun accepting patients at the onsite medical office. Additional Northside Hospital physicians and services will transition to the space during the coming months.

Northside Hospital will hire 300 additional employees to staff the facility. In total, the hospital will employ 1,700 workers, including 600 physicians, according to a Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News report.

“This is a huge move forward for Cherokee County and the surrounding areas,” said Billy Hayes, CEO of Northside Hospital. “Our new hospital is the culmination of a lot of hard work by many people over many years. The entire Northside Cherokee family is proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we look forward to a new era of healthcare service.”
