Port St. Lucie-based Florida Coast Medical Center is on track for a Sept. 9 opening, Treasure Coast Newspapers reported July 9.
Four things to know:
1. The $200 million hospital is part of the Palm Beach Health Network, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare.
2. Between 2020 and 2023, Port St. Lucie had the second-fastest growth rate in the U.S. among metropolitan areas with at least 500,000 people, according to Tenet.
3. The 185,000-square-foot hospital will have 54 beds. It will offer 24-hour emergency care, neurosciences, orthopedics, spine, robotics, general surgery, urology, advanced cardiac care and diagnostic services.
4. The hospital has hired more than 200 people and is aiming to add another 40 to 50 before it opens, Florida Coast Medical Center CEO Tyler Sherrill told Treasure Coast Newspapers. It may eventually employ as many as 300 people.
