Here are five things to know about the project.
1. The project will nearly triple the amount of space in the hospital’s ER to 5,600 square feet, more than double the current number of treatment rooms and allow the staff to treat nearly 50 percent additional patients, according to the report.
2. The ER will move from the back of the hospital to the front of the campus.
3. As part of the construction project, the hospital also plans to enlarge the size of the ER waiting room, the report states.
4. The goal with the project is for the ER to more effectively handle a greater number of patients, according to the article.
5. The new ER is scheduled to be complete by December 2017, according to the report.
