6 hospitals planning facility upgrades, expansions

The following hospitals announced plans in the last week to expand, upgrade or renovate their facilities.

1. Nebraska Medicine plans ED expansion
Omaha-based Nebraska Medicine is embarking on a major expansion to its emergency department, which will include the addition of more patient rooms and upgrades to critical care, according to KMTV.

2. Brooklyn Hospital Center seeks state funding for expansion and modernization
New York's The Brooklyn Hospital Center is calling on local elected officials to aid in the hospital's quest to modernize its emergency department and expand outpatient services, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

3. Franciscan Health Crawfordsville builds new ED
Construction is underway on a new emergency department at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville (Ind.), according to the Journal Review.

4. Northside Hospital Forsyth plans $13.5M expansion
Cumming, Ga.-based Northside Hospital Forsyth has submitted plans to Georgia's Department of Community Health to expand its hospital outpatient departments in a $13.5 million project, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

5. UMass Memorial Health considers ED for HealthAlliance Hospital
Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Memorial Health Care may pursue a new emergency department at Leominster, Mass.-based HealthAlliance Hospital, Worcester Business Journal Online reports.

6. Children's Hospital of OC builds first pediatric mental health inpatient facility in US
Los Angeles-based Children's Hospital of Orange County is building the first pediatric inpatient mental health center in the county, according to the Los Angeles Times.
