Approximately 120 staff members — 92 of whom will be new hires — will work at the 48,000-square-foot psychiatric center, which the hospital expects will open next year. Southern Hills’ existing 14-bed behavioral health center will be moved to the new facility.
The decision to open a new behavioral health center follows discussions between Southern Hills’ affiliated facilities in the Sunrise Health System — MountainView Hospital and Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, both in Las Vegas. The facilities began discussing a need for more psychiatric services in the area, according to Southern Hills CEO Adam Rudd.
Southern Hills soon became the primary contender for an expansion project due to its possession of 20 acres in the area.
In addition to expanding behavioral health services, Southern Hills is currently expanding its emergency room and planning on opening a new orthopedic/spine unit.
