Lahey, UMass receive approval to build new campus

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education approved a plan by Worcester, Mass.-based UMass Chan Medical School and Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Hospital and Medical Center to build a new campus in Burlington, masslive.com reported March 23.

The two parties signed an agreement to establish the campus in December 2022. Medical students on the campus will have the opportunity to learn under Lahey clinicians.

The first cohort of 25 students will enter UMass Chan Lahey in August 2024. 

 

“Lahey Hospital & Medical Center has a long history as a teaching hospital and is committed to training the next generation of leaders alongside our world-class experts,” Lahey President Susan Moffatt-Bruce, MD, PhD, said. “The UMass Chan-Lahey campus will help further our mission of delivering extraordinary care for the patients we serve by focusing on training leaders who are ready to address and advance solutions for the future challenges in health care.”
