Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare opened its $235 million HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital on May 5.
The investment was initially estimated at $231 million, but was updated to $235 million upon the hospital’s opening, a spokesperson confirmed with Becker’s.
The 90-bed, full-service medical and surgical hospital is the first to open in the region in more than 50 years. It is expected to create at least 250 jobs, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
HCA Florida Gainesville Hospital, which is part of HCA Florida Healthcare, comprises a 30-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, emergency care, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, including orthopedic, general and spine.
HCA began construction on the hospital in May 2024. It joins the freestanding HCA Florida Gainesville Emergency facility that opened in February 2024.
