Florence Community Healthcare in Arizona Closes

Florence (Ariz.) Community Healthcare, owned by hospital management company Initiatives Healthcare, closed Monday after less than two years of operation, according to a Florence Reminder & Blade-Tribune report.

The closure was due in large part to financial struggles. Gary Faulkner, the hospital CEO, said the hospital opened in a bad economy, “and we were under-capitalized,” according to the report.

The hospital had a daily average of 15 to 30 emergency department patients and 15 inpatients and employed approximately 160 people.

Florence (Ariz.) Hospital at Anthem, which opened in March, remains open and is “here for the long term,” hospital founder Tim Johns, MD, said in the report.
