The hospital’s demolition is more than a month behind schedule, according to the report.
The demolition process, including environmental cleanup, is expected to last roughly six months. Construction on a $350 redevelopment project will begin in December. The project, which is expected to last two-and-a-half years, will include two apartment buildings with 540 units, approximately 160,000-square-feet of retail space and up to 60 condominiums, according to the report.
The site of Children’s Memorial Hospital has been vacant since 2012 when the hospital moved to Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood under the name Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
