HealthEast’s decision to build a new primary care clinic within the Hazelwood Medical Commons is part of a strategy of reinvesting in neighborhoods it has already served for many years.
“The question we have been asking ourselves is, ‘How do we locate and align primary care services so they feel seamless across the organization to our patients and also better serve the communities we’re already in?'” he said. “That’s what was really fundamental in our thinking when this new opportunity came up.”
The health system’s proposal for the new medical offices will likely appear before the Maplewood City Council in June. If approved, HealthEast expects to break ground in July and complete construction by fall of 2017, according to the report.
