Brigham and Women’s will use the money to create the Gene Lay Institute of Immunology and Inflammation of Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital — also a founding member of Mass General Brigham — and Harvard Medical School.
Vijay Kuchroo, PhD, Brigham immunologist and principal investigator, will lead the institute, which will study immune-mediated diseases, aging and cancer and develop drugs associated with these conditions and diseases, according to a May 10 news release.
The $100 million gift is the largest in the hospital’s history.
