The $25 million Bon Secours facility is expected to open by the end of 2025, according to the report.
The decision is another blow in the area for Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, which has also had a proposal to build a new hospital in the area rejected. HCA had proposed a 60-bed, $234 million hospital, but that plan was shut down early October.
In addition, HCA is struggling to get freestanding emergency centers approved in North Carolina.
